If your room is large enough, you have enough natural or overhead lighting, you should be fine. They've told me they love the durability but don't like how dark the room seems. They have a two year old and a large dog. My nephew and his wife have a black leather set. That and the fact that I hate earthtones.so brown was not an option. That's what convinced me to buy dark gray. She hated how easily it showed wear and dirt. My niece had a tan leather set, a husband, three kids and a dog. I have oatmeal colored berber carpet so I'm not much help with the wood floor ideas. But I like the dark so it all suits me fine. I think adding recessed lighting really helped make the space not so cave like. My walls are painted a light sage and I only have one window (5圆) in the room. Once a year I clean and condition the leather. I use the crevice tool on my vacuum to vacuum between the cushions. Even when the dog comes in with wet paws, the couches dry up nicely. The only wear they've shown is one cushion is smashed down from it being the primary seating choice. I bought the couches specifically because they'd hold up better than an upholstered set would. I have a dark gray leather sofa & loveseat.and a 15 pound dog. We're not really interested in blue or green couches though.Īnyhow, we'd be curious to hear from owners of light or dark leather couches - difficult to keep lighter ones clean? do the dark ones add to much darkness to the room? but might it be too dark? Our concern with a mid tone brown couch is the tone/color would be pretty similar to the floor and kitchen cabinets. A dark couch can be as bold as a light couch in terms of contrast with the floor, and we could punch it up with light pillows and a light rug. So now we are leaning toward a mid-tone or dark brown leather couch. We don't have kids yet, but it is in the plans. The couch would get nightly traffic watching TV. Originally, we thought a light sofa (light cream) would keep the room "bright", but after talking with several sales folks (plus some common sense) this shade of couch would tend to show dirt more and would need to be babied more. 2 sofas in an L shape rather than a sectional. Walls will be painted a lighter tone (currently white) This will be a TV room and we've been considering a leather couch. It is an open floor plan to the kitchen, nice windows. So my wife & I are about to decorate our living room.
